Everyone makes mistakes; there is nothing wrong about that. Mistakes are part of the human experience and to live without them is not living at all. But there are some mistakes that should be avoided as it can have lasting effects not only on a person’s career, but also his or her life. Communication blunders are a commonality in the professional world today but committing them often could tarnish a good reputation and in extreme cases, shut a company down. This infographic research will focus on communication mistakes or blunders, their effects and some historical examples.

Mistranslation of content is a common communication blunder. When mistranslation occurs, your purpose of reaching out to a number of people and convincing them would be jeopardized by even the simplest of mistranslation. Not reviewing or editing your work is another. If you make mistakes in spelling, tone or grammar, people would think of you as careless. Proofread your work and use a dictionary if you are not sure about a certain word. Ask your colleagues to check on your work before you submit them. Other communication blunders are as follows: Delivering bad news via email; avoiding difficult conversations; being too emotional with your colleagues; lack of preparation; and lastly, lack of openness and flexibility.
